RESOLUTION NO. 618
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA,
IN SUPPORT OF A ONE YEAR, ONE CENT SALES TAX FOR THE
PURPOSE OF FUNDING LAW ENFORCEMENT CAPITAL PROJECTS.
WHEREAS, the Honorable John Polk, Sheriff of Seminole County,
has advocated a one-cent addition to the sales tax for a period of one
year to provide funding for law enforcement related capital projects,
to include expansion of the county jail, upgrading of communication systems
and equipment, and construction of additional facilities for both law
enforcement and correction purposes, to be placed on the ballot for consid-
eration by the voters in the fall of 1989; and
WHEREAS, countywide law enforcement efforts have made additional
law enforcement and correction facilities necessary in order to continue
high standards of law enforcement in Seminole County, and in the seven
municipalities located therein, as wel1 as to avoid correction facility
overcrowding; and
WHEREAS, issuance of the one-year, one-cent sales tax, and the
capital funding it wil1 provide, will be a fair and equitable mechanism
to provide additional funds for law enforcement purposes.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA:
SECTION I: That the City Commission of the City of Winter Springs
supports a one-year, one-cent additional sales tax to fund law enforcement
capital projects.
SECTION II: That the City Commission of the City of Winter Springs
urges its citizens to support law enforcement, and to support the one-cent
addition to the sales tax for a one year period if that question is placed
on the ballot in the fall of 1989.
SECTION III: That this resolution be recorded in the official
minutes of the Winter Springs City Commission, and that a copy be provided
to each member of the Seminole County Commission.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 26th day of June, 1989.

RESOLUTION NO. 1553
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA,
SUPPORTING THE CONCEPT OF A ONE-CENT ADDITION
TO THE SALES TAX FOR A ONE YEAR PERIOD TO
PROVIDE NEEDED FUNDS FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT AND
REQUESTING THE SEMINOLE COUNTY COMMISSION TO
RECONSIDER ITS POSITION.
WHEREAS, Sheriff John Polk has previously requested the
Seminole County Commission to place the question of a one-cent
addition to the sales tax for a period of one-year to provide
needed funds for law enforcement on the ballot far consideration
by the voters in the Fall of 1989; and
WHEREAS, if the one-cent addition to the sale tax was
approved by the voters it would provide additional funds for law
enforcement purposes in Seminole County and in the seven
municipalities located therein; and
WHEREAS, additional funds are needed for law
enforcement purposes and the Sanford City Commission believes
that the one-cent addition to the sales tax would be a fair and
equitable mechanism to provide the additional funds for law
enforcement purposes.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE
CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the City Commission of the City of
Sanford, Florida supports the concept of a one-cent addition to
the sales tax for a one-year period to provide needed funds for
law enforcement purposes.
SECTION 2: That the City Commission of the City of
Sanford, Florida, requests that the Board of County Commissioners
of Seminole County, Florida, recons~der its position and permit
the question of whether or not to authorize the one-cent addition
to the sales tax to be decided by the voters in the elections to
be held in the Fall of 1989.
SECTION 3: That the City commission of the City of
Sanford, Florida, urges its citizens to support law enforcement
and to support the one-cent addition to the sales tax far a one
year period to provide needed funds for law enforcement if that
question is placed on the ballot in the Fall of 1989.
SECTION 4: That this resolution be recorded in the
official minutes of the Sanford Ci~y Commission and that a copy
be provided to each member of the Seminole County Commission.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ALTAMONTE
SPRINGS, FLORIDA, IN SUPPORT OF A ONE
YEAR, ONE CENT SALES TAX FOR THE PURPOSE
OF FUNDING LAW ENFORCEMENT CAPITAL PRO-
JECTS.
WHEREAS, the Honorable John Polk, Sheriff of Semi-
nole County, has advocated a one-year, one-cent sales tax for
the purpose of funding law enforcement related capital pro-
jects, to include expansion of the county jail, upgrading of
communication systems and equipment, and construction of
additional facilities for both law enforcement and correction
purposes; and
WHEREAS, countywide law enforcement efforts have
made construction of additional law enforcement and correction
facilities necessary both in order to continue the high
standards of law enforcement in Seminole County as well as to
avoid correction facility overcrowding; and
WHEREAS, authorization of the one-year, one-cent
sales tax can be accomplished by countywide referendum only;
and
WHEREAS, issuance of the one-year, one-cent sales
tax and the capital funding it will provide for law enforce-
ment projects will be of direct benefit to the city of Alta-
monte springs law enforcement efforts.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, FLORIDA that the City
commission of Altamonte springs strongly supports the inclu-
sion of a one-year, one-cent sales tax to fund law enforcement
capital projects on a countywide referendum to be placed on
the ballot on or before March, 1990, or not later than the
November, 1990 elections.
