RESOLlITION NO. 561
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION AND MAYOR OF TIIE
CITI OF WINTER SPRINGS SUPPORTING THE ELECTION OF
GLENDA E. HOOD, PRESIDENT, FLORIDA LEAGUE OF CITIES,
COMMISSIONER, CITY OF ORLANDO, TO THE BOARD OF
DIRECTORS OF THE NATIONAL LEAGUE OF CITIES.
WHEREAS, Commissioner Glenda E. Hood is currently holding office
as President, Florida League of Cities and has served previously as the
First Vice President and on the Board of Directors of the Florida League of
Cities; and
WHEREAS, Corrmissioner Hood has made many contributions to the
League and its membership, including expansion of League services and programs;
and
WHEREAS, Comissioner Hood recognizes the pervasive impact the
federal goverrnnent has on local goverrnnent and that municipalities must be in
a position to effectively influence national policy; and
WHEREAS, Corrrnissioner Hood will take an active role in voicing the
municipal position on major federal issues to ensure that the cities' interests
are protected in Washington; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors will be elected at the 1986
Congress of Cities, San Antonio, Texas.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COMMISSION
AND MAYOR OF THE CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA SUPPORT
FLORIDA LEAGUE OF CITIES' PRESIDENT, COMMISSIONER GLENDA
E. HOOD, FOR ELECTION TO THE NATIONAL LEAGUE OF CITIES'
BOARD OF DlRECTORS.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be sent to the
Nominating Committee and be available to the entire membership of the National
League of Cities.
Passed and adopted this 8th day of December, 1986.
