HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 545 Revised Pedestrian Safety REVISED RESOLUTION NO. 545 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA, CERTIFYING ITS APPLICATION FOR CO~lUNITY SERVICES TRUST FUND ASSISTANCE TO AUGMENT ITS POLICE DEPARTMENT'S COMMUNITY RELATIONS AND CRIME PREVENTION PROGRAMS AND AUTHORIZING EXPENDITURE OF MATCHING FUNDS. WHEREAS, the City of Winter Springs, Florida, recognizes the invaluable role of the private citizen in the enhancement of public safety and crime prevention; and WHEREAS, the City realizes its responsibility to counsel and educate ,its citizens to better protect themselves and each other; and WHEREAS, toward this end the Police Department of the City of Winter Springs includes Community Relations and Crime Prevention Divisions which carry information and guidance to the public; and WHEREAS, additional equipment and educational materials to support these efforts would increase the impact and benefits of the program; and WHEREAS, the Department of Community Affairs of the State of Florida, through its Community Services Trust Fund, has allocated monies to assist local governments to provide essential and necessary human services; and WlIEREAS, the City of Winter Springs has executed an application dated July 25, 1986, amended October 31, 1986, for funding of a portion of the costs of continuing and expanding the community relations and crime prevention programs of its Police Department. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA, THAT: SECTION I - The City of Winter Springs hereby certifies its application dated July 25, 1986, amended October 31, 1986, to the State of Florida, Department of Community Affairs, for Community Services Trust Fund monies to augment its community relations and crime prevention programs. SECTION II - The City Commission of the City of Winter Springs, Florida, hereby authorizes the expenditure of funds from its 1986-1987 Capital Improvements Fund Budget to match at least one-half of the sum of three thousand two hundred twenty two dollars C$3,222. 00) requested to be granted to the City by the Department for utilization for the specified programs and pledges to encumber such monies to be spent only for these programs. SECTION III - This Resolution shall remain in force and effect until supplemented, amended, repealed or otherwise altered. SECTION IV - All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this resolution are hereby repealed. SECTION V - This Resolution shall take immediate effect upon its passage and adoption.
