RESOLUTION NO. 508
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA,
REQUESTING THE STATE OF FLORIDA, DEPARTMENT OF TRANS-
PORTATION, FOR AUTHORIZATION OF A TRAFFIC SIGNAL AT THE
INTERSECTION OF SR-434 AND MOSS ROAD; CONFLICTS AND
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Winter Springs, Florida, upon receiving
information from Seminole County Traffic Division concerning the amount of
vehicular and pedestrian traffic at the intersection of SR-434 and Moss Road;
as a result of the traffic on Moss Road exiting from the Bank, apartment
complex and the increase of thru traffic from S.R. 419 and projected traffic
flow from two (2) other projected complexes on Moss Road, one (1) already
under construction; and
WHEREAS, the traffic on S.R. 434, increasing from vehicular
traffic entering and exiting from newly constructed shopping center at said
intersection; and
WHEREAS, the City of Winter Springs, Florida, contends that
the aforementioned location comprises a hazardous traffic area prior to North
Moss Road being widened, thereby increasing the traffic flow on Moss Road,
crossing and exiting onto S.R. 434. It is therefore requested that a
traffic signal be installed at that location to control vehicular and
pedestrian traffic.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA, THAT:
SECTION I - the City of Winter Springs, Florida, does hereby
request that authorization be issued for a traffic signal at the inter-
section of State Road 434 (County Section No. 34-20-30) and Moss Road in the
the City of Winter Springs, Seminole county, Florida.
SECTION II - the City of Winter Springs, FLorida, will cause to
be installed at this location the traffic control device recommended by the
Department, and will have the installation funded by the appropriate assess-
ments, as determined by the City.
SECTION 111- any traffic signal that may be installed will be
maintained in accordance with the Department's Traffic Signal Maintenance
Recommendations and the Signal Operating plan and the City will not make any
significant changes to the signal operation without prior Department approval.
SECTION IV - the electric charges for operating any signal will
be paid by the City.
SECTION V - this Resolution shall remain in force until
supplemented, amended, repealed or otherwise altered.
SECTION VI - all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict
with this resolution are hereby repealed.
SECTION VII - this resolution shall take immediate effect upon
its passage and approval.
