RESOLUTION NO. 452
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA,
CERTIFYING ITS APPLICATION FOR COMMUNITY TRUST FUND
ASSISTANCE TO CONTINUE A SCHOOL-AGE PEDESTRIAN SAFETY
IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM AND AUTHORIZING EXPENDITURE OF
MATCHING FUNDS.
WHEREAS, within the City limits of Winter Springs, Florida, there
are an elementary school and a community park near established residential
neighborhoods lacking sidewalks; and
WHEREAS, the numerous school-age children who reside in these
neighborhoods must utilize the roadways to walk or bicycle to the elementary
school and to the park in conflict with vehicular traffic; and
WHEREAS, the City proposes to continue its program to add sidewalks
along these roadways for the safety of school-age children; and
WHEREAS, THE Department of Community Affairs of the State of Florida,
through its Community Services Trust Fund, has allocated monies to assist local
governments to provide essential and necessary human services; and
WHEREAS, the City of Winter Springs has executed an application dated
July 24, 1984, for funding of a portion of the costs of continuing its school-
age pedestrian safety program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA, THAT:
SECTION I - The City of Winter Springs hereby certifies its application
dated July 24, 1984, to the State of Florida, Department of Community Affairs,
for Community Services Trust Fund monies to assist in the continuance of a
school-age pedestrian safety program.
SECTION II - The City Commission of the City of Winter Springs, Florida,
hereby authorizes the expenditure of funds from its 1984-1985 Capital Improve-
ments Fund budget to match at least one-half of the sum of three thousand dollars
($3,000) requested to be granted to the City by the Department for utilization for
the school-age pedestrian safety program and pledges to encumber such monies to be
spent only for this program.
SECTION III - This Resolution shall remain in force and effect until
supplemented, amended, repealed or otherwise altered.
SECTION IV - All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with
this resolution are hereby repealed.
SECTION V - This Resolution shall take immediate effect upon its
passage and adoption.
