HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 414 Fuel Sales Tax RESOLUTION NO, 414 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA, OPPOSING THE LEGISLATION REQUIRING ALL LOCAL GOVERN- MENTS TO START PAYING THE STATE A 5% SALES TAX ON FUEL EFFECTIVE OCTOBER I, 1983; THAT SECTION 62 OF SENATE BILL 8A BE REPEALED; EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS the Legislature has passed legislation that would require all local governments to start paying the State a 5% sales tax on fuel effective October I, 1983, and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Winter Springs, Florida, opposes this tax, and WHEREAS, the City Commission urges passage of regular legislation to maintain the present local government's exemption from the State sales tax on gasoline, and WHEREAS, the City Commission requests the repeal of Section 62 of Senate Bill 8A that was passed in the recent Special Session, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA: SECTION I - That Section 62 of Senate Bill 8A be repealed. SECTION II - That the City Commission of Winter Springs strongly urges the passage of regular legislation to maintain the present local government's exemption from the state sales tax on gasoline. SECTION III - That a copy of this resolution be presented to the Seminole Legislative Delegation to support efforts to obtain passage of legislation so that local governments will not pay 5% sales tax on the purchase of fuel. SECTION IV - This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and adoption. Passed and adopted this 12th day of April, 1983. CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA JOHN V.
