HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 291 East Central Florida Planning RESOLUTION NO. 291 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO PARTI- CIPATE IN A COMBINED ENTITLEMENT JURISDICTION WITH THE EAST CENTRAL FLORIDA PLANNING COUNCIL WITHIN STATE PLANNING DISTRICT VI UNDER THE JUSTICE SYSTEM IMPROVEMENT ACT (JSIA) OF 1979. WHEREAS, the City of Winter Springs, Florida has been invited to combine with the East Central Florida Regional Planning Council as a participant in a Combined Entitlement Jurisdiction within the State Planning District VI for the purpose of preparing, developing and implementing a criminal justice program under the Justice System Improvement Act (JSIA) of 1979; and WHEREAS, the City of Winter Springs, Florida has thoroughly considered available information regarding this matter from the Florida Council on Criminal Justice; and WHEREAS, such a combination will result in the pooling of resources and increased administrative efficiency; and WHEREAS, participating governments within the Combined Entitlement Jurisdiction will be assured of specific annual funding commitments under the JSIA: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Winter Springs, Florida, that: SECTION I. The City of Winter Springs, Florida declares its intent to elect participation in a Combined Entitlement Jurisdiction with the East Central Florida Regional Planning Council within State Planning District VI of the State of Florida as a beneficiary of the funds under the JSIA of 1979 during fiscal years 1981 through 1983. SECTION II. The East Central Florida Regional Planning Council be authorized to file in behalf of this Combined Entitlement Jurisdiction, the necessary plans, applications and requisitions in the form prescribed by the Florida Bureau of Criminal Justice Assistance for a Criminal Justice Improvement Grant. SECTI0N III. The said East Central Florida Regional Planning Council is further authorized to furnish such information and take such action as may be necessary to enable the Combined Entitlement Jurisdiction to qualify for said grant. SECTION IV. The City of Winter Springs, Florida hereby agrees to enter into a formal inter-local agreement with the East Central Florida Regional Planning Council, as specified in Chapter 163 of the Florida Statutes, for the purpose of accomplishing the tasks associated with this Combined Entitlement Jurisdiction designation. SECTION V. This Resolution shall remain in force and effect until supplemented, amended, repealed or otherwise altered. SECTION VI. All resolutions, or parts of resolu- tions in conflict with this Resolution are hereby repealed. SECTION VII. This Resolution shall take immediate effect upon its passage and approval.
