V PLUMBING, SEC. 6-126 PLUMBING CODE ADOPTED TO PROVIDE FOR ADOPTION OF STANDARD PLUMBING CODE-1988 EDITION; AMENDING ARTICLE VI. MECHANICAL CODE, SEC. 6-146. CODE ADOPTED PROVIDING FOR ADOPTION OF STANDARD MECHANICAL CODE-1988 EDITION; PROVIDING FOR NEW SECTION 6-165.5 CODE ADOPTED OF ARTICLE VII, PROVIDING FOR ADOPTION OF STANDARD UNSAFE BUILDING ABATEMENT CODE-1985 EDITION; PROVIDING FOR NEW SECTION 6-210.5 CODE ADOPTED, OF ARTICLE IX, PROVIDING FOR ADOPTION OF STANDARD SWIMMING POOL CODE-1985 EDITION; PROVIDING FOR NEW ARTICLE X. GAS CODE, PROVID- ING FOR ADOPTION OF SECTION 6-240. GAS CODE-1988 EDITION; SEVERABILITY, CONFLICTS AND EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Winter Springs, Florida, has determined that it is in the best interest of the City of Winter Springs, Florida, to update and adopt the various standard Codes relating to building, gas, housing, mechanical, plumbing and swimming pools, and WHEREAS, the adoption of these Codes is done to facilitate proper in- spection activities by the City of Winter Springs relating to construction and to maintenance of buildings within the corporate limits of said City and relating to public safety, health and general welfare. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I - That Section 6-81 Standard Building Code Adopted, of Article III Building construction standards is hereby deleted in its entirety and the following replaced therefor: Sec.6-81. Standard Building Code Adopted. There is hereby adopted by the City the Standard Building Code-1988 Edition, except Appendix K and N, and Standard Existing Building Code-1988 Edition and Standard Housing Code-1988 Edition, as promulgated by the Southern Building Code Congress International, Inc. as the minimum standards for build- ing and construction within the City. The provisions of the Standard Building Code shall govern all matters contained therein, except when in conflict with the provisions of this chapter or other ordinances of the City. SECTION II - That Sec. 6-126. Plumbing Code Adopted of Article V. Plumbing is hereby deleted in its entirety and the following replaced therefor: Sec. 6-126. Plumbing Code Adopted. The City hereby adopts in its entirety that certain Plumbing Code known as the Standard Plumbing Code-1988 Edition as promulgated by the Southern Building Code Congress International, Inc., except as otherwise provided in this article. SECTION III - That Sec. 6-146. Code Adopted of Article VI. Mechanical Code is hereby deleted in its entirety and the following replaced therefor: Sec. 6-146. Code adopted. The City hereby adopts the Standard Mechanical Code-1988 Edition, as promulgated by the Southern Building Code Congress International, Inc. as the minimum standards for building and construction within the City. SECTION IV - providing for new Sec. 6-165.5 Code Adopted of Article VII. Unsafe Buildings as follows: Sec. 6-165.5 Code Adopted. The City hereby adopts in its entirety that certain code known as the Standard Unsafe Building Abatement Code-1985 Edition as promulgated by the Southern Building Code Congress International, Inc., except as otherwise provided in this article. SECTION V - providing for new Sec. 6-210.5 Code Adopted of Article IX. Swimming Pools as follows: Sec. 6-210.5 Code Adopted. The City hereby adopts in its entirety that certain Code known as the Standard Swimming Pool Code-1985 Edition as promulgated by the Southern Building code Congress international, Inc., except as otherwise provided in this article. SECTION VI - providing for new Article X. Gas Code and new Sec. 6-240 Code adopted as follows: Article X. Gas Code Sec. 6-240 Code Adopted. The City hereby adopts in its entirety that certain Code known as the Standard Gas Code-1988 Edition as promulgated by the Southern Building Code Congress International, Inc., except as otherwise provided in this article. SECTION VII - Conflicts. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith being the same are hereby repealed. SECTION VIII - Severability. If any section or portion of a section or subsection of this Ordinance proves to be invalid, unlawful or unconstitutional, it shall not be held to invalidate or impair the validity, force or effect of any other section or portion of section or subsection or part of this Ordinance.
