HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 152 Comprehensive Planning CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA RESOLUTION NO. 152 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA, WITH REFERENCE TO THE "SEMINOLE COUNTY COMPREHENSIVE PLANNING ACT OF 1974"; REQUESTING THAT THE STATE OF FLORIDA INCLUDE THE CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA, IN ANY GENERAL ACT MANDATING LOCAL COMPREHENSIVE PLANNING SHOULD SUCH LEGISLATION BECOME LAW AND SEEKING REPEAL OF THE SPECIAL ACT ESTABLISHING THE "SEMINOLE COUNTY COMPRE- HENSIVE PLANNING ACT OF 1974", WHEREAS, the State of Florida has passed the "Seminole County Comprehensive Planning Act of 1974", and WHEREAS, the City of Winter Springs has long been concerned with the need for viable comprehensive planning, and WHEREAS, the City of Winter Springs, Florida, as one of seven municipalities in Seminole County, Florida, has proceeded to implement the requirements of this Act since its effective date of October 1, 1974, and WHEREAS, similar legislation has been introduced in both the Senate and the House of Representatives of the State of Florida during the current 1975 Session which differs slightly from the Special Act previously passed by the legislature, and WHEREAS, the City of Winter Springs, Florida, was mandated to effectuate the requirements set forth in the "Seminole County Comprehensive Planning Act of 1974", notwithstanding their financial inability to implement same, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA, as follows: 1. The City of Winter Springs, Florida, is opposed to any County resolutions requesting that language not be included in any general act mandating local comprehensive planning on a statewide basis which would repeal or alter the Seminole County Comprehensive Planning Act of 1974. 2. The City of Winter Springs, Florida requests that Seminole County Comprehensive Planning Act of 1974 be repealed or altered in accordance with any general act regarding compre- hensive planning in order that funding may be obtained. 3. Copies of this Resolution shall be forwarded to the Governor of the State of Florida, the President of the Florida Senate, the Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives, the Florida League of Cities and members of the Seminole County Legislative Delegation. 4, This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and adoption.
