HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 147 Unemployment Compensation CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA RESOLUTION NO. 147 WHEREAS, the 1975 Session of the Florida Legislature did enact legislation making cities liable for unemployment compensation pursuant to Chapter 74-198, Laws of Florida, 1974; and WHEREAS, subjecting cities of Florida to liability for unemployment compensation creates financial hardship upon over- burdened city taxpayers; and WHEREAS, it is to the best interest and welfare of the city taxpayers of the State of Florida to be relieved of this additional and unfair financial burden, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: 1. The City Council of the City of Winter Springs, Florida, does hereby request the Florida Legislature to immed- iately repeal Chapter 74-198, thereby removing cities of the State of Florida from liability for unemployment compensation or, in the alternative, adopt legislation creating a method of financing said unemployment compensation by utilization of State funds. 2. That copies of this Resolution be forwarded to the Governor of the State of Florida, the President of the Florida Senate, the Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives, the Florida League of Cities and members of the Seminole County Legislative Delegation. 3.
