ORDINANCE NO. 386
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA,
AMENDING SECTION 2-34 QUALIFICATION OF CANDIDATES, TO
REQUIRE EACH CANDIDATE SEEKING THE OFFICE OF CITY
COMMISSIONER OR MAYOR OR ANY OTHER ELECTIVE OFFICE OF
THE CITY TO BE A RESIDENT OF THE CITY ONE YEAR PRIOR
TO THE TIME OF QUALIFYING: SEVERABILITY, CONFLICTS AND
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, The City Commission of the City of Winter Springs,
Florida, has determined it to be in the best interests of the citizens
of the City of Winter Springs to amend Section 2-34 Qualification of
Candidates to require each candidate seeking the office of City Commissioner
or Mayor or any other elective office of the City to be a resident of the City
one year prior to the time of Qualifying.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA:
SECTION I - That Section 2-34 Qualification of candidates of the
Code of Ordinances be amended to include the following:
Each candidate seeking the office of City Commissioner or Mayor
or any other elective office of the City shall have resided in the City of
Winter Springs one year prior to the time of qualifying.
SECTION II: - If any section or portion of this Ordinance proves to
be invalid, unlawful or unconstitutional, it shall not be held to invalidate
or impair the validity, force or effect of any other section or portion of a
section or sub-section or part of this Ordinance.
SECTION III: - All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION IV: - This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its
passage and adoption.
Passed and adopted this 27th day of July, 1987.
