RESOLUTION 92 WHEREAS, the Florida Legislature has recently enacted a 2~ increase in cigarette taxes; and WHEREAS, said Legislature denies distribution of this increase to cities which do not levy at least a 3-mill ad valorem tax; and WHEREAS, the Village of North Orlando be1ieves this to be an unjust denial of distribution of taxes to those cities which do not levy the required ad valorem tax; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the Village of North orlando, in session assembled in North Orlando, Florida, November 1, 1971, tha t : 1. Hereby expresses its disagreement with and takes exception to the legislation which denies those cities levying less than 3-mills the distribution of the increase of 2~ in cigarette taxes. 2. The Village of North Orlando believes this denial to be an unjust deprivation of taxes collected within certain cities and urges that this situation be remedied so that these cities may reoeive their just share of taxes. 3. The Village of North Orlando hereby requests that the Legislature of the State of Florida, at its next regular or special session, amend Chapter 71-364, Laws of the State of Florida, to include all municipalities which either levy a three mill ad valorem tax or which have a population of 3,000 residents or more or whim levy a 5% utility tax or more, in the share and participation of the revenues derived from the additional 2~ cigarette tax levied by the Legislature during the 1971 session. _._~-- -- ~.~.....' , 4~~' ... , , 1971. --,,--~ ~,_-:l""'," 11 . e Passed and adopted this 1st day of November,
