WHEREAS, The VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF NORTH ORLANDO. FLA.,
recognize the vital importance of public higher education for our
children and our community; and
WHEREAS, The 1963 Florida Legislature, the duly elected
representatives of the people of Florida, provided for the estab-
lishment of a state university to be located in east central
Florida; and
WHEREAS, Seminole County is designated as one of the
counties of east central Florida where the new state university
may be located; and
WHEREAS, the 1963 Legislature passed a local act authoriz-
ing the Board of County Commissioners to acquire a site to be
donated to the State of Florida for the new institution of higher
learning; and
WHEREAS, the local act shall become effective only upon
its approval by a majority of the electors voting in an election
called by the Board of County Commissioners; and
WHEREAS, said election has been called for November 5,
1963; and
WHEREAS, it is our personal responsibility to do every-
thing possible to provide for the higher educational needs of our
rapidly increasing number of high school graduates; and
WHEREAS, the future industrial expansion, cultural develop
ment, economic welfare and general well-being of Seminole County
and this community will greatly be enhanced by the location of the
new university in Seminole County;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by theVILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE
VILLAGE OF NORTH ORLANDO, FLORIDA, that we hereby endorse approval
by the voters of this community of the Local Act authorizing the
Board of County Commissioners of Seminole County to acquire a
site for an institution of higher learning, and call upon our
citizens to actively join in assuring approval of this important
issue at the polls on November 5, 1963.
