ORDINANCE NO. 217
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA,
AMENDING SECTION 2-32 OF THE WINTER SPRINGS CODE OF
ORDINANCES, ENTITLED "ELECTION BOARDS" AND SECTION
2-41 OF THE WINTER SPRINGS CODE OF ORDINANCES ENTITLED
"CANVASS OF RETURN"; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY, CONFLICTS
AND EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Section 2-32 of the Winter Springs Code of Ordinances,
entitled "Election Boards" provides for the Mayor to appoint an election
board for the municipal elections; and
WHEREAS, Sec. 2-41 of the Winter Springs Code of Ordinances,
entitled "Canvass of return" provides for the City canvassing board to
canvass the election returns; and
WHEREAS, the County Supervisor of Elections conducts the City
elections in each even-numbered year or in the cases of special elections.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WINTER
SPRINGS, FLORIDA, HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION I - That Section 2-32 of the Winter Springs Code of
Ordinances entitled "Election Boards" is hereby amended to include the
following:
In years when the County Supervisor of Elections conducts the
municipal election, said Supervisor shall appoint the election board, shall
fill any vacancy and shall set the compensation of the election board.
SECTION 11 - That Section 2-41 of the Winter Springs Code of
Ordinances entitled "Canvass of return" is hereby amended to include the
following:
In years when the County Supervisor of Elections conducts the
municipal election, the County Canvassing Board shall be designated to
canvass the returns of the municipal election.
SECTION III - SEVERABILITY. If any section or portion of a
section or subsection of this Ordinance proves to be invalid, unlawful or
unconstitutional, it shall not be held to invalidate or impair the validity,
force or effect of any other section or portion of a section or subsection or
part of this Ordinance.
SECTION IV - CONFLICTS. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances
in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION V - EFFECTIVE DATE. This Ordinance shall take effect
upon final passage and adoption.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by the City Council of the City
of Winter Springs, Florida, that said City Council will hold a public
hearing at the City Hall, 400 N. Edgemon Ave., Winter Springs, Fl. on
Tuesday, June 24, 1980, at 7:30 p. m. or as soon thereafter as possible,
to consider an Ordinance entitled as follows:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS, ·
FLORIDA, AMENDING SECTION 2-32 OF THE WINTER
SPRINGS CODE OF ORDINANCES, ENTITLED "ELECTION
BOARDS" AND SECTION 2-41 OF THE WINTER SPRINGS
CODE OF ORDINANCES ENTITLED "CANV ASS OF RETURN";
PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY, CONFLICTS AND
EFFECTIVE DATE.
A copy of said Ordinance shall be available at the office of
the City Clerk of the City of Winter Springs, Fl., for all persons desiring
to examine same.
All interested persons are invited to attend and be heard.
THIS NOTICE is to be published in the Evening Herald, a
newspaper of general circulation of the City, one (1) time at least
fifteen (15) days prior to the time of the public hearing.
