Home My WebLink AboutOrdinance 106 Tax Structure ORDINANCE NO. 106 AN ORDINANCE OF THE: CITY COUNCIL OF THE: CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA; ADJUSTING THE TAX STRUCTURE OF THE CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA; PROVIDING FOR AN AD VALOREM TAX; REDUCING THE PRESENT UTILITY TAX; SEVERABILITY AND EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Winter Springs, Florida presently has no ad valorem taxation, and WHEREAS, the need to provide adequate services to the citizens of Winter Springs, Florida requires additional revenues, and WHEREAS, an adjustment of the: city tax structure will provide additional revenues in the most economically feasible manner , NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA HEREBY ORDAINS: SECTION 1: A three and one half mill ad valorem tax is hereby established for the City of Winter Springs, Florida; said tax to be assessed on the 1974 Seminole County tax rolls. SECTION 2: For 1975 and all subsequent years during which this Ordinance shall be in effect, the ad valorem tax millage rate shall be not less than three and one-half mills and shall be set by resolution passed by the City Council of the City of Winter Springs, Florida; said resolution to be passed on or before July 31st of each year. SECTION 3: The present Winter Spring's utility tax of eight percent shall be reduced to six percent, effective November 1, 1974. SECTION 4: If any section or portion of section or subsection of this ordinance proves to be invalid, unlawful or unconstitutional, it shall not be held to invalidate or impair the validity, force, or effect, of any other section or portion of a section or subsection or part of this ordinance.
