Children's Week was created to share the vision of the State of Florida's commitment to its
children and families and to engage a long -term process to develop and implement strategies for moving the
shared vision forward; and does so by encouraging Children's Week activities to occur locally in all of Florida's
Counties to strengthen and enrich our families and our communities; and
the 15 Annual Children's Week "Celebrating Parents and Children" will be held in
Tallahassee from April 11, 2010 to April 17, 2010, bringing thousands of parents, children, professionals,
community leaders and concerned citizens together to share valuable knowledge and information about
children's issues across the state and in our Capital city; and
Children's Week has teamed up with The Grove Counseling Center, Inc., the Association of
Early Learning Coalitions, the Florida Department of Health's Step Up, Florida! Program, Community Based
Care of Seminole, Light of Hope, Prevent Child Abuse Florida's Winds of Change Campaign, and with over 80
leading statewide businesses, non - profit organizations to expand the network of community involvement and
education on a wide array of children and family issues at the local level and conduct events and activities in
March and April throughout our State which are focused on improving the health, safety and well -being of
Florida's children and families; and
Multiple local and statewide non - profit organizations representing many different children's
issues are participating in the celebration of Children's Week, providing a holistic approach to the well -being of
children, and encompassing all issues which impact Florida's children and families.
Mayor of the City of Winter Springs, do hereby Proclaim
April 4 2010 as Parents and Children's Day; and April 11, 2010 to April 17, 2010 as Children's Week -
"Celebrating Parents and Children" in the City of Winter Springs.
