WHEREAS, ARBOR DAY was first observed with the planting of more
than a million trees in the state of Nebraska, and ARBOR DA \' is now observed
throughout the Nation and the world; and
WilE REA S. trees reduce the erosion of our precious topsoil by wind and
water, cut heating and cooling costs, moderate the temperature, clean the air, produce
oxygen, and provide habitat for wildlife; and
WIIEREAS. trees in our city increase property values, enhance the
economic vitality of business areas, and beautify our community; and
WII ERL\S. the City of Winter Springs is recognized as Tree City, U.S.A.;
and
:\ 0 W TilE R E FO R E. as National Arbor Day is recognized this year on
Saturday, April 26, 2003; I, JOHN F. BUSH, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF WINTER
SPRINGS do hereby proclaim April 26, 2003 as National Arbor Day here within the
City of Winter Springs.
