WI-IEREAS, at the 2002 National }-ligh School JROTC' Drill 'reanl Chanlpionships held
in Daytona Beach, Florida from the 3rd through the 5th of May 2002,
approximately 3,000 cadets from 63 High Schools from across the United
States of America competed in various categories to award the top
contenders; and
WlIEREAS, to excel in the "'Altenlative AnllS Exhibition Individual'" category, the winner
would need to exhibit extraordinary skill, technical precision, discipline,
perseverance, and a true commitment to excellence; and
WHEREAS, the most exemplary presentation of Jennifer Bergst of Winter Springs High
School was recognized by the judges and she was awarded the great honor
of being named the 2002 National Champion for all of her efforts; and
WHEREAS, in a demonstration of true commitment to excellence, not only did Jennifer
Bergst place .1 st in the 2002 competition, but Jennifer Bergst was the
reigning National Champion for the year 2001.
NOW, THEREf'ORE,1, PAUL P. PARTYKA, Mayor of the City of Winter Springs, hereby do
Proclaim Monday, May 13, 2002, as a Day of Recognition in honor of
"JROTC ALTERNATIVE ARMS EXHIBITION INDIVIDUAL
TWO TIME NA TIONAL CHAMPION -
JENNI FERBERGST"
