PROCLAMATION
THE FOLLOWING PROCLAMATION WAS READ INTO THE RECORD
DURING THE JULY 24, 2000 REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY OF
WINTER SPRINGS CITY COMMISSION.
WHEREAS, the American Association of People with Disabilities
celebrates the lOth Anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act,
signed on July 25, 1990, with a 23 City Torch Relay beginning in California and
ending in New York.
WHEREAS, the mission of the Spirit of ADA Torch Relay is to connect,
inform, educate and involve people across the United States in celebrating the
contributions of children and adults with disabilities to American society.
WHEREAS, Seminole County, including all local municipalities and
community organizations, symbolically bring the torch to Seminole Community
College to kick off the celebration and closing ceremonies at the Eastmonte Civic
Center.
WHEREAS, the City of Winter Springs City Commission celebrates and
keeps alive the Spirit of the Americans with Disabilities Act, and call for individuals,
communities, and leaders to renew their commitment to an America that works for
everyone.
WHEREAS, the City of Winter Springs City Commission supports the
goals of equality, opportunity, and full participation for the economic self-sufficiency
for all people with disabilities.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, PAUL P. PARTYKA, by virtue of the authority
vested in me as Mayor of the City of Winter Springs, Florida, do hereby proclaim and
honor the 25th day of July, 2000, as
"THE ANNIVERSARY OF
THE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT"
