This letter is to ask for your assistance in recognizing the achievements and service of Jonathan Trevett, a resident of this community and a member of Troop 787. Sincerely, J; Tom Hoisington, Eagle Scout Eagle Advancement Chairman Troop 787 Important Facts About Eagle Scout Jonathan Trevett Jonathan Trevett attended Winter Springs High School where he maintained a full academic schedule taking all honors or advanced placement classes; graduating with a 3.60 grade point average. In addition to his scholastic pursuits, Jonathan lettered in varsity lacrosse in both his junior and senior years at Winter Springs High. Following graduation, he was accepted into the summer school program at the University of Florida where he is studying Architecture. Due to the credits earned in the advanced placement courses at Winter Springs High and the classes attended during the summer term, Jonathan has already amassed 24 credit hours and carries a 3.75 grade average. His final project of the summer term was selected as one of eight projects selected for display in the gallery at the University of Florida School of Architecture. Jonathan has been heavily involved in Troop 787 where he served several terms as leader of his patrol and later helped organize a Venture Crew, twice serving as Crew Chief. He is a member of the Order of the Arrow, ,an elite camping honor society. He counts among the highlights of his membership in Troop 787 a white-water rafting trip on the Nantahala River in North Carolina; the backpacking trip his crew took to Colorado where they scaled Mount Harvard, a 14,428 foot peak; a backpacking and canoe expedition in North Carolina that included a white-water rafting trip down the Ocoee River in Eastern Tennessee; and a week long sailing trip from Key West to Marathon Key. Important Facts About Eagle Scouts To achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, a young man is required to earn a minimum of twenty-one merit badges. Twelve of these badges are required. Citizenship in the World Family Life Camping Emergency Preparedness or Lifesaving The Scout is also required to earn a minimum of nine elective merit badges. These enable the Scout to explore areas of personal interest. Additionally, the Scout is required to demonstrate leadership ability by accepting leadership positions within both his patrol and the troop; and, through the completion of a service project that benefits the community. The Eagle Court of Honor Handbook tells us that, of 100 boys who join Scouting, ... · Only rarely will one appear before a juvenile court .' Twelve will receive their first time religious contact · Five will receive Church affiliated awards e..
