WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA
WHEREAS, an estimated 10 million people in the United States and millions
worldwide have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, a disease for which there is no cure; and
WHEREAS, Fibromyalgia is a very serious and chronic illness - increasing at an
alarming rate - which causes fatigue and debilitating pain in women, men, and children of all
ages and races; and
WHEREAS, patients with this illness often have to learn to live with widespread pain
through out their bodies, extreme fatigue, sleep disorders, stiffness, migraine headaches,
numbness and tingling, and difficulty in performing everyday activities; and
WHEREAS, people with Fibromyalgia face discrimination in the workplace and from
family and friends because so few people are aware or understand what Fibromyalgia is and
the symptoms it manifests; and
WHEREAS, increased awareness and expanded knowledge of the realities of life with
Fibromyalgia will allow the community at large to better support people who struggle with
the challenges of this chronic pain and disorders.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOHN F. BUSH, Mayor of the City of Winter Springs,
do hereby Proclaim May 12th, 2007, as
"FIBROMYALGIA AWARENESS DA Y"
in the City of Winter Springs, Florida, and I urge all citizens to support the search for a
cure and assist individuals and families who deal with devastating disease on a daily basis.
