1 HEREAS, founded in 1958, the Mid Florida Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society
serves more than 70,000 people in a 23 -county area, including family members, friends, caregivers, and
employers; and
W HEREAS, every hour of every day someone is diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis; and
W HEREAS, more than 10,000 Central Floridians and their families and friends are forced to cope
with this unpredictable, debilitating, and incurable disease; and
1 HEREAS, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society funds more research than any other voluntary
health organization in the world; and
ItirHEREAS, the mission of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and the Mid Florida Chapter is to
end the devastating effects of Multiple Sclerosis; and
W HEREAS, Central Floridians living with Multiple Sclerosis rely on many communitywide events
and programs enhanced by the participation of thousands of Orange County and Central Florida
residents.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOHN P. BUSH, Mayor of the City of Winter Springs, do hereby
proclaim the week of March 2 through March 8, 2009, as
MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS AWARENESS WEEK
in Winter Springs, Florida and urge all citizens to join me in observing this period as a time of awareness
and support.
