PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, Arbor Day is symbolic of the early conservation movement, and has
been observed in the United States in various ways for more than one hundred years; and
WHEREAS, there has been increased interest in planting trees because of the
outstanding role that trees play in improving our environment; and
WHEREAS, trees are responsible for producing oxygen, for controlling floods,
and for providing a habitat for nature and wildlife;
NOW THEREFORE, I, PAUL P. PARTYKA, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF
WINTER SPRINGS do hereby proclaim the 9TH day of October 1999 as
ARBOR DAY 1999
in the City of Winter Springs with the sincere conviction that the enhancement of the
beauty of the City's landscape by the planting of trees, furnishes not only an economic
value, but human values that rank as priceless benefits to all.
