PROCLAMATION
CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS
\~EREAS, the Bible is recognized by millions as an important
guide to ethical living; and
~EREAS, many religions also believe it to be the divinely
inspired Word of God; and
~EREAS, the Bible inspired the lives of many of the founders
of our Nation and of the State of Florida; and
~EREAS, the teachings of the Bible can be of tremendous in-
fluence in people's efforts to know themselves, to make the most of their
talents, and to do good for their fellow men; and
~EREAS, the language of the Bible includes some of the most
beautiful and expressive poetry and prose ever written; and
\~EREAS, the President of the United States has proclaimed 1983
as the Year of the Bible throughout our Nation;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, John V. Torcaso, by virtue of the authority
vested in me as Mayor of the City of Winter Springs, Florida, do hereby
proclaim 1983 as
THE YEAR OF THE BIBLE
in Florida, and urge all citizens to read, study and apply the teachings of
Scripture in their daily lives.
IN WITNESS ~EREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal
of the City of Winter Springs, Florida, to be affixed at Winter Springs on
the 30th day of August, in the year of our Lord nineteen hundred and eighty-
three.
