REQUEST:
The City Manager is respectfully requesting that the City Commission of
the City of Winter Springs consider endorsing the recent nomination of
City of Oviedo Council Member, the Honorable Tom O'Hanlon; and the
re-nomination of the Honorable Whitey Eckstein of the City of Sanford, to
the Seminole County Expressway Authority (SCEA).
PURPOSE:
The purpose of this Agenda Item is for the City of Winter Springs City
Commission to consider approving the recent nomination of City of
Oviedo Council Member, the Honorable Tom O'Hanlon; and the re-
nomination of the Honorable Whitey Eckstein of the City of Sanford, to
the Seminole County Expressway Authority (SCEA).
CONSIDERATIONS:
Previously, the Council of Local Governments in Seminole County
(CALNO) has recommended representatives to serve on the Seminole
County Expressway Authority (SCEA). The City of Winter Springs and
the other Seminole County municipalities are asked to provide their
support.

At this time, the City Commission of the City of Winter Springs is
requested to approve the appointment of Council Member Tom O'Hanlon,
who has agreed to complete the term currently held by City of Oviedo
Council Member, Thomas Hagood, who on November 2, 2000 vacated his
seat. This Seminole County Expressway Authority (SCEA) term of office
expires in April 2002.
In addition, the City Commission of the City of Winter Springs is also
asked to endorse the re-nomination of Commissioner Whitey Eckstein of
the City of Sanford, whose current term of office with the Seminole
County Expressway Authority (SCEA), expires in November.
The City of Winter Springs is asked to inform Seminole County
Commission Chairman, the Honorable Carlton Henley; and Chairperson
Cindy Gennell of the Council of Local Governinents of Seminole County
(CALNO), in writing, of their decision(s).
