Re: City of Erie v. Pap's A.M.
Dear Chairman Gennell:
Good news! The United States Supreme Court ruled in the City of Erie v. Pap's A.M. that the
City of Erie's public decency ordinance was constitutional. The Supreme Court reinstated
Erie's ordinance which requires strippers to wear at least pasties and a G-string when
performing. This decision will be helpful to both Seminole County and the City of Casselberry
as they continue to defend their ordinances prohibiting public nudity, both in the State and
Federal courts.
It was a pleasure for Attorney Anthony A. Garganese and myself to represent CAlNO's
interest before the U.S. Supreme Court in this landmark case. By copy of this letter to
Attorneys Lonnie N. Groot and Frederick H. Nelson, who represented Seminole County in our
joint Amicus Brief, I thank them for all their hard work. We are all pleased with this wonderful
decision.
Sincerely,
STENSTROM, MciNTOSH, COLBERT,
