SEMINOLE COUNTY, FLORIDA
THE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION WAS ADOPTED BY THE
BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF SEMINOLE
COUNTY, FLORIDA, A T THEIR REGULARL Y
SCHEDULED MEETING OF DECEMBER 16, 1997
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners has a long standing commitment to
providing quality recreational facilities and natural resource areas for enjoyment by the citizens
of Seminole County; and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners recognizes that trails and greenways
are recreational facilities which are important to the citizens of Seminole County; and
WHEREAS, trails and greenways developed upon corridors acquired by or placed under
the management of the County can be important recreational facilities linking the County's
natural lands parcels, parks, schools and neighborhoods; and
WHEREAS, the development of trails and greenways in the County leads to a positive
influx of eco-tourism into the County and further enhances the international impression of the
County as a first class location to live, work and play; and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners believes that input provided by the
citizens of Seminole County and full public participation are essential to the development of a
quality countywide trails and greenways program; and
WHEREAS, as a result of the action taken herein having only nominal economic impact
(i.e., additional staff time and resources) the Board of County Commissioners herein waives the
requirement of an economic impact statement; and
WHEREAS, the action taken herein furthers and is consistent with the objectives, goals .
and policies of the Seminole County Comprehensive Plan,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
Co.MMISSIONERS OF SEMINOLE COUNTY, FLORIDA, THAT:
Section 1. Trails and Greenways Task Force. A Trails and Greenways Task Force,
(hereinafter "Task Force"), is hereby established to serve as an advisory committee and
recommending body to the Board of County Commissioners.
Section 2. Membership. The Task Force shall be comprised of up to 15 members
appointed by the Board of County Commissioners with the membership consisting of a cross-
section of trail user/interest groups as determined by the Board.

Section 3. Duties and Responsibilities.
(a) The Task Force shall have the following duties and responsibilities:
(I) Promote and build support for local trails and greenways initiatives such as
the development of a speaker's bureau for local civic and business associations,
development of a promotional video and other educational, marketing and informational
materials on the benefits of trails and greenways to the local community;
(2) Assist in identifying available resources and funding for trails and greenways
implementation such as Federal and State grants, local public/private partnerships and
volunteer projects to build and maintain amenities; and
(3) Explore and make recommendations on alternative links between the
County's three showcase trails to neighborhood communities.
(b) All meetings of the Task Force shall be open public meetings and the Task Force
shall be subject to all laws relating to financial disclosure, conflicts of interest and the Code of
Ethics for Public Officers and Employees.
(c) The Task Force shall elect its chairperson and adopt its rules of procedure either
informally or formally.
Section 4. Term. The Task Force shall exist until December 3D, 1999.
Section 5. Vacancies. The Board of County Commissioners may fill vacancies that may
occur on the Task Force, as it deems appropriate.
