COUNCIL OF LOCAL GOVERNMENTS IN SEMINOLE COUNTY
CALNO RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the care and custody of inmates at the John E. Polk Correctional Facility is
costly for the county; and
WHEREAS, the average daily population at the John E. Polk Correctional Facility from 1993
to 1997 was 686 inmates; and
WHEREAS, the maximum bed capacity at the John E. Polk Correctional Facility is 812
beds; and
WHEREAS, the average daily population at the John E. Polk Correctional Facility through
May, 1998 is 961 inmates; and
WHEREAS, inmate/community service labor is a valuable community resource; and
WHEREAS, the use of inmate/community service labor is beneficial to the community; and
WHEREAS, putting inmates/offenders to work is a cost-effective and productive way for
offenders to pay their debt to society; and
WHEREAS, use of inmate/community service labor will result in substantial savings to our
community as well as enhance its appearance; and
WHEREAS, use of the weekend day reporting program will assist In eliminating
overcrowding at the John E. Polk Correctional Facility.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of Local Governments in Seminole
County (CALNO) supports the weekend day reporting program at the John E. Polk
Correctional Facility.
