The compromise would be as follows: the portion of the allocation of the fuel tax to the county (64.89%) and to the seven cities (35.11%) remain the same. The one change to the current distribution would be that the 35.11% cities' portion would remain fluid throughout the term of the tax. The distribution of that 35.11% would be based on each city's contribution to the transportation improvement effort based on the previous five years. If this compromise can be agreed to by the Seminole County Board of Commissioners, I will then take it back to the Council of Local Governments for their approval. Such action by the county and the cities would- make _unnecessary the proposed "clar ificatlon legislation" and end the bickering that has existed between some county and city officials concerning this issue.
