The regular meeting of the Council of Local Governments in Seminole County
was held on Wed., May 5, 1982 in the Cc~~ission Room, City Hal!., Sanford,
Florida.
The meeting was opened by June Lormann, Chairman, and she said that due to
lack of a quorum, the meeting would be informal discussion.
She introduced Mr. Hattaway and Mr. Brantley and turned the meeting over to
them for reports from Tallahassee.
Mr. Hattaway informed those present that most of the time at the last session
was devoted to reapportionment of districts and the lQ sales tax increase. He
said the sales tax issue was quite controversial but his feeling is that if the
population increases in the next ten years as it has in the past ten years, the
increase is in the best interest of Seminole County and should afford some prop-
erty tax relief.
He also said he wanted to stress the importance of representation in Tallahassee
from the"people at home" and said he wanted everyone to know how important it is
for Mr. Knowles to go to Tallahassee and attend the sessions.
Mr. Brantley discussed the reapportionment of districts and said it may make for
costlier campaigning because of the size of the districts, and he would have pre-
ferred a more compact district.
