HomeMy WebLinkAbout1980 05 07 Minutes MINUTES OF MEETING OF COUNCIL OF LOCAL GOVERNMENTS IN SEMINOLE COUNTY May 7, 1980 The regular meeting of the Council of Local Governments in Seminole County was held on May 7, 1980, at 7:30 p.m. in the City Hall, Altamonte Springs, Flori da. Present were: Mayor N. C. Floyd, Sr., City of Altamonte Springs Mayor Owen Sheppard, City of Casselberry Mayor Walter Sorenson, City of Lake Mary Deputy Mayor June Lormann, City of Longwood Commissioner Edwin O. Keith, City of Sanford Commissioner Sandra Glenn, Seminole County Deputy Mayor Wilfred Arnold, City of Winter Springs The meeting was called to order by Chairman Floyd. Moved by Deputy Mayor Arnold, seconded by Commissioner Keith, carried, to approve the minutes of the meeting of April 2, 1980. Deputy Mayor Lormann reported a balance in the treasury of $504.76. She reported that all dues had been paid with the exception of Seminole County. Commissioner Glenn moved that the Treasurer's report be accepted, seconded by Mayor Sorenson, and motion carried. Reports: City of Altamonte Springs: Mayor Floyd reported that he had submitted a request for IPA grant to the Florida Department of Administration Division of Personnel for multi- jurisdictional personnel improvement program in the field of affirmative action, position classification, pay plans and personnel policies. He also reported that he had a telephone conversation with the Seminole County Animal Control Division officer regarding problems which had been expressed to him. City of Casselberry: ~byorSheppard discussed the bill in the legislature regarding the sale of paraphernalia. He also reported that the State had agreed to conduct a weed control program in the City's lakes on a 70-30 percent basis, with the City to pay 70 percent. The first application is to be free and then the City will follow up with a program using a local contractor. The cost for the three lakes will be $6,000.00. City of Lake Mary - no report. City of Longwood - no report. Commissioner Glenn reported that a procedure is being drafted for requests received after annexation takes place such as the City of Longwood resolution concerning the County two-year moratorium on zoning and density changes brought up at the meeting of the Seminole County Commission on May 6. City of Winter Springs: Deputy Mayor Arnold congratulated the County Commission on the action taken regarding the CETA program. He suggested that the cities get together on common problems such as pay raises and discuss them before taking action so that everyone is aware of them. It was suggested that the Council prepare a scale of wages and benefits for the area including the seven cities and the County. He also asked about possibility of reactivating the double taxation committee. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:10 p.m. ~fJAAw:l ?
