CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS
RESOLUTION NUMBER 2006-17
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA,
SUPPORTING THE DEVELOPMENT OF A NEW MEDICAL FACILITY
WITHIN THE CITY OF OVIEDO
WHEREAS, the greater Oviedo community has seen a dramatic increase in
population over the last 10 years; and
WHEREAS, the increase in the number of residents has underscored the need for
accessible medical care in a convenient location for the citizens in the Oviedo
community;
WHEREAS, the establishment of a hospital facility within the City of Oviedo
would benefit area residents not only in terms of access to state of the art medical care,
but also in terms of the associated employment opportunities and ancillary economic
development in the City of Oviedo; and
WHEREAS, the development of hospital facilities in Oviedo will improve the
access for area residents to emergency care and shorten the travel time for emergency
medical responders bringing patients to the facility; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Oviedo has indicated its formal
support for the development of a new hospital within its jurisdiction.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA, that the City hereby concurs with its
colleagues in Oviedo in supporting the development of a new hospital in the City of
Oviedo.
