Yes No Are you related to a City of Winter Springs Commission member by blood, adoption, or marriage? Yes No Interest & Experiences Why are you interested in serving on a board or committee? I am interested in serving on the Tuscawilla Lighting and Beautification District Advisory Committee because I care deeply about the long-term quality, identity, and livability of the community. Thoughtful lighting, landscape design, and public space improvements play a major role in how residents experience their neighborhood on a daily basis, from safety and walkability to overall pride of place. Serving on this committee would allow me to contribute constructively to decisions that help maintain and enhance Tuscawilla in a way that is intentional, fiscally responsible, and aligned with the character of the area. I value collaborative problem-solving and would welcome the opportunity to represent the community while working alongside staff and fellow volunteers to support practical, well- considered improvements. Briefly state any specialized knowledge or prior experience you have that would be useful in assisting the board or committee in accomplishing its purpose. I own and operate a landscape design and ecological services company focused on sustainable, Florida-appropriate landscapes, site planning, and long-term maintenance considerations. My professional experience includes evaluating lighting placement, plant selection, water conservation and preservation, visibility, safety, drainage, and durability in public-facing environments. I regularly work with budgets, phased improvements, and maintenance planning, and I understand how design decisions impact ongoing costs and community perception over time. This background would allow me to offer practical, informed input on beautification projects, lighting upgrades, and streetscape improvements while keeping long-term maintenance and community usability in mind. Rick Ziska Date of Birth Briefly state any experience you have in serving on any governmental board or committee. While I have not previously served on a formal governmental board or committee, I have experience collaborating with schools, neighborhood groups, and community organizations on public-facing projects and shared spaces. These experiences have required working within guidelines, balancing multiple stakeholder interests, and communicating clearly and professionally. I am comfortable operating in an advisory role, listening carefully, and contributing thoughtfully, and I am eager to apply those skills in a formal committee setting.
