HomeMy WebLinkAbout2024 11 18 Informational 200 - Results of the November 5, 2024 General Municipal ElectionINFORMATIONAL AGENDA ITEM 200 CITY COMMISSION AGENDA | NOVEMBER 18, 2024 REGULAR MEETING TITLE Results of the Tuesday, November 5, 2024 General Municipal Election SUMMARY The City of Winter Springs (via the Seminole County Supervisor of Elections Office) held a General Municipal Election on November 5, 2024. This Agenda Item is to inform the Mayor and City Commission of the unofficial results of the November 8, 2022 Winter Springs General Municipal Election. As noted in the Winter Springs Charter: Section 4.03. - Election and terms. (a) The regular election of mayor and commissioners shall be held at the time provided for in Section 8.01 of this Charter. All elections shall be for four-year terms of office. The terms of the mayor and commissioner shall begin at the next scheduled regular or special meeting of the city commission of each year an election is held, and its members shall serve until their successors have taken office. This year, the following Seats were up for Election [for a four (4) year Term of Office]: Seat One: Currently held by Deputy Mayor Matt Benton Seat Three: Currently held by Commissioner Ted Johnson Seat Five: Currently held by Commissioner Rob Elliott 17 The Seminole County Supervisor of Elections will be providing Certified Results at a later date. In the meantime, when this Agenda Item went to publication, the results as shown below were "unofficial" COMMISSIONER SEAT ONE (4 YEAR TERM) Matt Benton 8,600 Votes 45.31% Paul Diaz 10,379 Votes 54.69% COMMISSIONER SEAT THREE (4 YEAR TERM) Sarah Baker 12,221 Votes 64.02% Karen Meyer 6,867 Votes 35.98% COMMISSIONER SEAT FIVE (4 YEAR TERM) Mark Caruso 8,984 Votes 47.99% Rob Elliott 5,534 Votes 29.56% Brandon Morrisey 4,202 Votes 22.45% FUNDING SOURCE RECOMMENDATION Staff requests the City Commission receive and review the information provided in this Agenda Item. 18
