CITY COMMISSION AGENDA | SEPTEMBER 9, 2024 REGULAR MEETING
TITLE
Presentation of Resolution 2024-22 Recognizing the Retirement of Captain Doug Seely
from the Winter Springs Police Department
SUMMARY
Captain Seely began his career with the City of Winter Springs as a police officer on
April 4, 1991. Her has served with distinction and with honor for over 33 years. He has
officially retired on August 7, 2024. This evening we gather to honor and celebrate the
remarkable career of Captain Doug Seely, who is retiring after three decades of
service to our community, and agency. It is both a privilege and a bittersweet moment
for me to speak on behalf of the department as we mark the end and express our
deepest gratitude for Captain Seely's unwavering commitment and exceptional
contributions.
Doug brought with him his dedication and passion for policing. Throughout his tenure,
that passion has never worn off. Doug has enriched our team and become a
foundation of our department's success. From the early days of learning the ropes to
becoming a seasoned veteran, Doug has exemplified what it means to serve with
integrity, courage, dedication, and compassion.
As is customary for long-tenured employees who have reached retirement from
service with the City, the Commission has desired to formally recognize them for their
service via presentation of a Resolution designed for this purpose.
We wish you a retirement that is as rewarding as your career has been. Thank you for
everything, and may your future be bright and full of happiness.
