SUMMARY Captain Seely began his career back on April 4, 1991 as a patrol officer. Throughout the years, Captain Seely has worked in every Bureau of the Police Department, as well had many additional duties to include, the SWAT team, Honor Guard, CNT, PIO, FTO, SRO, and Bike unit just to name a few things. Needless to say Captain Seely has had a long successful career with many opportunities. He has made an incredible impact on the police department as well as the community he served. You can sit back, look at what Captain Seely has done, and be inspired. He is a warrior fighter from the beginning to the end. The police department will surely miss him. Captain Seely, for over thirty-three years, you served this community with honor and dignity. You have touched so many lives of the employees and countless lives of those in this community. I am glad to have worked next to you. We all wish you the best of luck in retirement. We wish him the very best in his next chapter. Good luck and God speed Captain Seely. FUNDING SOURCE RECOMMENDATION Staff request the Commission review and approve Resolution 2024-22 to be presented to Captain Doug Seely on the next scheduled Commission meeting. 555 Kevin McCann Mayor Matt Benton Commissioner Victoria Bruce Commissioner Ted Johnson Commissioner Cade Resnick Commissioner Rob Elliott Commissioner A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA RECOGNIZING CAPTAIN DOUG SEELY FOR HIS 33 YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE AS AN EMPLOYEE OF THE CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS; AND EXPRESSING OUR APPRECIATION ON BEHALF OF THE CITIZENS OF THE CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Whereas, Captain Doug Seely has provided the residents of the City of Winter Springs with over 30 years of exceptional, dedicated, and distinguished service since joining the Police Department in April 1991; and Whereas, Captain Seely has worked in every Bureau of the Winter Springs Police Department and has served on the SWAT team, Honor Guard, Bike Unit, and more.; and Whereas, Captain Seely served this City with distinction and honor for 33 years and will retire from service with the City of Winter Springs on August 7, 2024. Now therefore, be it Resolved by the City Commission of the City of Winter Springs, Florida as follows: Section I – Upon the occasion of Captain Doug Seely’s retirement, the Mayor and Commission, City Manager, and City Staff, wish to recognize and honor him for his excellent level of distinguished service to the residents of Winter Springs through his 33 years of exemplary service. Section II – That the Resolution commending the services of Captain Seely be recorded upon the official Public Records and Minutes of the City Commission of the City of Winter Springs, Florida Section III – That a copy of the Resolution be forwarded to Captain Seely with our sincerest and heartfelt thanks and appreciation for his numerous and valued important contributions.
