TITLE
Proclamation Declaring April as Water Conservation Month
SUMMARY
2023 is the 25th anniversary of April being established as Water Conservation
Month in Florida. The Florida Section American Water Works Association
(FSAWWA), in coordination with Florida's water management districts,
requested local governments, water utilities, and other organizations to adopt
a resolution or proclamation declaring April as Water Conservation Month.
This year, the FSAWWA includes a theme, which for 2023 is Leak Prevention.
We are asking utilities and local governments to include leak prevention as an
essential first step in water conservation.

W H E R EAS,water is a basic and essential need of every living creature; and
W H E R EAS, the State of Florida,Water Management Districts, and City of Winter Springs are
working together to increase awareness about the importance of water conservation; and
W H E R EAS, the City of Winter Springs and the State of Florida has designated April,typically a
dry month when water demands are most acute, Florida's Water Conservation Month to educate
citizens about how they can help save Florida's precious water resources; and
W H E R EAS, the City of Winter Springs has long encouraged and supported water conservation
through various educational programs; and
WH E REAS, every business, industry,school, and citizen can make a difference by conserving
water and thus promoting a healthyeconomy and community, and
W H E R EAS leak prevention is commonly thought to be the first step in conserving water, (your
name) will encourage citizens and businesses to focus on fixing leaks;
NOW THEREFORE, 1, Kevin McCann, Mayor of the City of Winter Springs,Florida do hereby Proclaim
the month of April as:
WATER CONSERVATION MONTH
in the City of Winter Springs and encourage all residents to help protect our precious water
resources by practicing water saving measures and becoming more aware of the need to save
water. For this, the 25t" year of Water Conservation Month, there will be a special focus on fixing
leaks and all forms of water loss
