WHEREAS, ZECHARIAH CARTLEDGE is nine years old, and attends Layer Elementary School as a resident of the City of Winter
Springs, Florida; and
WHEREAS ZECHARIAH CARTLEDGE got involved in running half -mile races as a first -grader, then in the second grade, ran
one -mile races, however, he felt that these races were too easy for him, and he wanted to run more; so, last year when he was
eight years old, he ran his first 5K (3.1 miles) in February 2017, and not only won his age group, he very impressively, finished his
first 5K in 26th place overall, out of 329 runners; and
II.H ERR -AS. ZECHARIAH CARTLEDGE has said, "If you want to run in a 5K, definitely run for a good cause — and have fun.
Even if you finish by walking, don't feel bad. Feel proud of yourself. It's better than quitting"; and
iffHF- REAS, ZECHARIAH CARTLEDGE in such a short period of time, has gone on to complete more than 20 5K races, a seven
mile race, and a half Marathon (13.1 miles); and in October 2017, ran in a local "Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk" which honors a
9/11 Firefighter, Stephen Sitter who died trying to help others on that fateful day; plus this event helps raise money for families
affected by 9/11, and as part of his participation in last year's "Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk", ZECHARIAH CARTLEDGE found
that he loved helping others, maybe more than running, and through this experience, wrote a report for his 3rd grade class on
research he had done, to which has since been shared hundreds and hundreds of times; and
%1 L tz F t ZECHARIAH CARTLEDGE became determined to also run in the "Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk" being held
on September 30th of 2018 in New York; and as he wanted his family to also join him on this journey, his father helped him set up
a fundraising webpage to help fund this big trip, and while that effort has been very successful; and
W1I E I ' ZECHARIAH CARTLEDGE found that beyond his love for running and competing, his passion to help others and
to give back has meant more to him, and through fundraising efforts, he is personally helping to raise funds for the Stephen Sitter
"Tunnel to Towers Foundation", and has already raised almost $8,000.00 towards his goal of raising $10,000.00.
