Public Input Statement Nov. 02
The WSCA would like to thank the thousands of residents who
voted for change in the last election, whose votes were an
indictment of the failed leadership of our city, and who have
signed our petition calling for the resignations of some city
leaders and a new direction for our city.
Now that the audits have vindicated our concerns and laid bare
the specific ways malfeasance has run our once proud city into
the ground, we will accept your resignations as a form of
apology for the years of mistreatment we have endured through
your calloused disregard of our health and financial solvency.
It's time for action before any further damage is inflicted on our
city. Residents living on fixed incomes in a difficult economy are
wondering why you are recklessly raising our trash rates,
allowing an effective tax increase, and possibly increasing our
water bills without a workable plan to fix the issues which have
been plaguing our city under your leadership.
Stop playing games. Acknowledge what the audits have twice
told you: you have failed, we deserve better, it's time to step
down.
Jesse Phillips
WSCA President

My husband and I have been deeply hurt by a recent "terrorist"
comment made by a member of our community. A member of our
community that helps shape Winter Springs through serving on a board,
making planning and zoning decisions, and also by having social media
influence in our community. A comment that has left my husband and I
feeling crushed and wondering where our place is in this community.
Being a small business owner is already Laugh. Advertising is expensive and we are off the main
road. Our expenses have skyrocketed. We have watched our friends next door close their doors.
And through all of this, we have continued to keep our doors open and have continued to give
back to our community. Our family.
We attended city sponsored events and paid the fees I(ke everyone else. Events where we lost
money but still supported Winter Springs, a place we have loved since we opened our doors in
2018*
We held events at our restaurant. We invited current commissioners and the mayor to join us
for great food and some lively debate with those running against them. We saw who supported
small, local business when Commissioner Colangelo showed up. When Brandon Morrisey and
Marie Caruso showed up. Brandon and Mark were running against each other but they were
there, together. Commissioner Cade Resnick showed up with his daughters and continued to
show up. Painfully, we didn't see any other Winter Springs leaders show up. Perhaps they didn't
see the flyers or hear about it. Perhaps it's because of different reasons.
Our school supply drive was a huge success. Just ask Seminole County Schaal Board member
Abby Sanchez or the teachers and administrators at Winter Springs Elementary. Ask them how
they enjoyed the teas and coffees we brought them. The Commission would know how amazing
our drinks are, if they had not refused them when we provided them at no charge. The
members of the VFW can tell you how we worked with them to provide food for disabled
veterans. At that same event, the toys we collected went to the Winter Springs Police
Department. Two pick up trucks of Lays for those less fortunate in our carnmunity. We sponsor
local churches, local schools, and even local home owner associations.
in a small community, getting people Into a restaurant is hard enough. Loalc at Parlour Ice
Cream, they're gave. General Publ(c House is closed. Nat long ago, our restaurant had rocl<s
thrown through the windows and we were called racial slurs. Now we have to contend with
racially charged comments being made by a member of the community that our commissioners
call friend.
We have been there for Winter Springs, continue to be there for Winter Springs, but wonder if
Winter Springs will allow us to continue to be there in the future.
Do better. Demonstrate leadership.
