CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Kevin McCann called the City Commission Workshop of Monday, June 6, 2022
of the City Commission to order at 6:35 PM in the Commission Chambers of the
Municipal Building (City Hall, 1126 East State Road 434, Winter Springs,
Florida 32708).

Father John Giel provided the invocation followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Mayor Kevin McCann provided some background on the workshop, its purpose, and
the procedure to be followed for the workshop.

DISCUSSION ITEMS
1.) Community Dialogue Regarding City Policies and Practices
Mayor McCann opened the floor for discussion.
Ms. Casey Howard, Deputy City Manager reviewed City demographics, hiring
practices, and city policies. Captain Matt Tracht, Winter Springs Police Department
spoke briefly about police training and practices.
Discussion then followed on body cameras, housing affordability, bullying concerns
in public schools, mental health concerns, sharing available community resources,
better addressing challenges faces by mobility-challenged individuals, and
consideration of the elderly, especially related to pedestrian safety and resource
availability.
From this discussion the group asked about possible social media inclusivity
initiatives, updating and promoting the resource guide currently available on the
City website and potentially sharing it with schools to widen its reach, and the
Commission asked that attendees share their contact information by signing in so
that they could keep informed of further initiatives and potential informal meetings
throughout the community.
ADJOURNMENT
Mayor McCann adjourned the meeting at 8:40 PM.
