TITLE
Authorization for the City Manager to purchase two (2) electric vehicles.
SUMMARY
At the September 28th meeting, Mr. Bryan Wilson addressed the City
Commission on this topic. Staff was currently engaged in researching the cost
of electric vehicles.
The City's Comprehensive Plan articulates the vision of its community and
establishes policies to achieve those goals. The first goal in The Conservation
Element of the City's 2030 Comprehensive Plan is to protect, maintain and
conserve the City's natural resources and to maintain a quality environment.
Objective 1 :1 is Air Quality.
Policy 1 .1 .3 includes strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Policy 1 .1 .4: Utilize the most fuel-efficient vehicles in their class or category, to
the extent practical, as the City replaces vehicles within its fleet.
Policy 1 .1 .6: Participate in air quality public information programs and
encourage alternative forms of transportation.
City staff researched several electric vehicles for replacement of vehicles
within the City's fleet of vehicles and requests to purchase two (2) vehicles
from the Alan Jay Automotive Network State Contract 2021 120716-NAF &
060920-NAF. Staff reviewed three (3) different makes and models in the thirty
thousand dollar range, to determine the most efficient and cost effective
vehicle for the City to purchase. The three vehicles researched were the
Chevrolet Bolt $27,756; Nissan Leaf, $33,227.00; and the Tesla Model 3
$35,322. City staff is now requesting approval to purchase two (2) Chevrolet
Bolt EV for at the price of$55,512.00 ($27,756.00 x 2) Quote 27346-1 plus
wrapping to include City logo and 'going green' message on the vehicle not to
exceed $5,000 for both vehicles. The funding source for the purchase of the
vehicles shall be the Community Development Fund #420-24-2400-560641 .

RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Commission direct the City Manager to purchase
two (2) electric vehicles for the City's Fleet.
