TITLE
Tentative Millage Rate for Fiscal Year 2020-2021 and Related Advertising
SUMMARY
The proposed operating millage rate of 2.4100 mills as submitted on the DR-
420 is 4.22% more than the rolled-back rate of 2.3124 mills. On July 13, 2020,
the Commission established the 2020-2021 proposed operating millage rate
(millage cap) at 2.4100 mills. Resolution 2020-14 will establish the 2020-2021
tentative millage rate. It is recommended that the tentative operating millage
rate not vary from the proposed operating millage rate of 2.4100 mills. The
decision to levy an operating millage rate of 2.4100 mills as opposed to the
rolled-back rate of 2.3124 mills will result in additional ad valorem General
Fund revenue of$254,643 (net of statutory discount).
Any subsequent revisions by the City Commission to the tentative millage
rates and/or the tentative budget will be reflected in the Final Millage and
Final Budget Hearings scheduled for September 28, 2020 at 6:30 P.M.
However, the tentative operating millage rate that is established cannot be
exceeded at the final hearing. As such, it is recommended that the City
Commission set the tentative operating millage rate equivalent to the
proposed operating millage cap of 2.4100 mills. The City Commission may
reduce the operating millage rate at the final hearing.
