,n m=ared CITY COMMISSION AGENDA I AUGUST 10, 2020 REGULAR MEETING
1959
TITLE
City of Winter Springs Employee and Leader Recognition Garden
SUMMARY
It takes continued commitment and strong leadership to be successful. Staff
is proposing a Recognition Garden to honor employees and leaders that have
helped shape and propel the direction of the City.
The Garden will be centrally located on the vacant field at the top of Central
Winds (where Celebration of Freedom is regularly held). It will have a main
walkway, landscaping, a flagpole, and recognition pavers. The pavers will be
etched with names and years of service for prominent contributors of the City
vision after the contributors have separated from the City.
The eligibility requirements to be recognized on a paver in the City of Winter
Springs Employee and Leader Recognition Garden are below:
A previous employee with 15 or more consecutive years of service with
the City of Winter Springs
• A previous member of the City Commission serving 8 or more
consecutive years
• A previous City board or committee member serving 5 or more
consecutive years
The above eligibility requirements will be retroactively applied to those who
have left service with the City since 01/01/2015.
The City of Winter Springs Employee and Leader Recognition Garden will
serve as Phase 1 of the Central Winds Amphitheater project. The Garden will
not only be a beautiful and relaxing place for visitors to take a break, it will
also serve as the main entrance for guests who visit the Central Winds
Amphitheater.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Commission discuss and review the concept plan
establishing a City of Winter Springs Employee and Leader Recognition
795
Garden and to provide further direction.
