SPECIAL MEETING
SEPTEMBER 1, 2021
CALL TO ORDER
Chairperson Kevin Bolton called the Special Meeting of September 1, 2021 of
the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee to Order at 6:34 p.m., in the
Commission Chambers of the Municipal Building (City Hall, 1126 East State
Road 434, Winter Springs, Florida 32708).

Vice- Chairperson Brian Mashburn, present
Committee Member Jeff Crandall, present
Committee Member Loretta (Dolly) Ames, present
Committee Member Melissa Haynie, present
Assistant City Clerk Tristin Motter, present

500) Crosswalk Considerations - SR 434 & Tuskawilla Rd
Committee Member Ames gave explanation on why she wanted the agenda
item added. Committee Member Ames expressed concern and gave her
opinion additional on crosswalk locations and timing for the crossing
specifically down 434 across the street from the Blake. Mr. Christopher
Schmidt, Community Development Director gave information in regards to
the planned light and crosswalk that will be located at Michael Blake and State
Road 434 where the concern was expressed.
Committee Member Crandall express additional concerned for parking and
street crossing in regards to the Winter Springs Market place that will be
located just west of the intersection previously discussed. Staff stated they
would look into the stated concern of Marketplace’s cross walking and parking.
Further discussion ensued on other potential crosswalk location and timeline
for current construction that will added to the pedestrian population of the
City.
501) State Road 419 Update
Staff relayed there was no updates were given from Department of
Transportation for the 419 Bike trail and Railroad crossing due to there being a
hold from Duke Energy putting in some ground lines.
