Home My WebLink About2022 06 27 Consent 301 - Police Vehicle Purchase • CONSENT AGENDA ITEM 301 n, CITY COMMISSION AGENDA I JUNE 27, 2022 REGULAR MEETING 1959 TITLE Police Vehicle Purchase SUMMARY The Police Department requests to purchase three (3) new police fleet vehicles from Bartow Ford via Charlotte County Contract 2021000541 . This process is being used as this vendor has units on their lot ready for delivery. The fully-loaded proposed capital expenditure for the vehicles with the installed police patrol package from Bartow Ford is not to exceed $137,769.00. Many factors are considered when replacing police vehicles, such as the current vehicle age, mileage, average annual mileage, purpose, fuel economy, service cost/history, residual value, etc. Two of these vehicles will replace two current patrol fleet vehicles that have met the end of their serviceable life. One (1) is a Ford Police Interceptor SUV, fully marked and equipped with blue lights and a prisoner transport cage. The second (2) vehicle is a Ford F150 Police Responder 4x4 pick-up truck, which is fully marked and equipped with blue lights and a tow package that our Special Operations Division will use. Again, this vehicle will replace an existing 4x4 that has met its useful patrol life. The third (3) vehicle will be a Ford F150 Police Responder 4x4 pick-up truck that will be fully equipped with blue lights and a tow package. This vehicle will be assigned to the Emergency Management Coordinator, which lets an existing vehicle be assigned to another officer. As a result, Bartow Ford has these units ready for immediate delivery. This arrangement offers marginal turn-around time to equip the new vehicles and put them in service.
