SUMMARY The City purchased additional property on Flamingo Ave to provide for contiguous park property, and to expand Torcaso Cove. With the addition of the Flamingo property at Torcaso Cove Park, and the expansion of the park, there is a need to provide additional restroom facilities at the park. When the property was purchased, the home on the property was evaluated to determine if converting it to a public restroom was a possibility. After inspection by the Architect and Structural Engineer, the Structural Engineer recommended that the home be demolished due to a faulty foundation and cracks in the walls extending into the roof. The home was demolished and the property cleared. The Architect designed a new restroom to place on this property about 600 square feet having a Men's and Women's restroom along with a utility room. It is staff's intention to build the facility in house utilizing contractors as needed. The Cost of the Restrooms is estimated to be $159,779. A 10% contingency fee is recommended for any increases in scope or pricing. Total costs for the project is $175,757. Funding for the project will come from Perk up Parks. RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends Commission approve funding for the Flamingo Restroom at Torcaso Cove Park. Total funding requested is $175,757.
