the 101 st Airborne Division and later the 2nd Infantry Division in South Korea.
Upon entry back into the civilian world, Matt started his law enforcement
career with the city of Deland from 1998 to 2000. He served as a patrol
officer and was ultimately assigned to represent the police department as the
Housing and Urban Development officer. In January 2000, he transferred to

Next, he assumed command of a nighttime patrol shift until he was selected
to work hand in hand with the Chief of Police in the agency's Internal Affairs
Division. Matt was later assigned back to the Operations Bureau and was
promoted to the rank of Captain, where he was responsible and oversaw the

concluding that Matt was assigned to command the Support Services Bureau,
which consisted of Code Enforcement, Records, Building, and Fleet. While in
the position, he was promoted as the agency's first Deputy Chief of Police.
Matt spent 15 years on the agency SWAT team, in which he held a leadership
position throughout his tenure.
Matt holds an Associate degree in Criminal Justice Technology from Seminole
