CALL TO ORDER
City Clerk Christian Gowan called to order the Wednesday, April 7t", 2021
Regular Meeting of the Veteran and Veteran Family Advisory Committee at
5:30 p.m. in the Commission Chambers of the Municipal Building (City Hall,1126
East State Road 434, Winter Springs, Florida 32708).

City Clerk Gowan opened nominations for the Chairperson position for the 2021
Calendar year.

Chairperson Pehowic opened "Public Input".
Mr. Rob Elliott, 925 Chokecherry Court, Winter Springs thanked and welcomed
the Committee.
City Manager Shawn Boyle came forth, introduced himself, thanked and
welcomed Committee members and offered support.
Chairperson Pehowic closed "Public Input".

503) Discussion on City Events and Veteran Participation
2021 City Events and Programs Calendar
Ms. Ilana Berman, Marketing and Events Manager, Operations Department
introduced herself and Ms. Meghan McNeil, Events Coordinator, Operations
Department while giving an overview of Staff's goals for the Committee.
Discussion ensued about Veteran-specific event and volunteer opportunities;
such as Memorial Day,the City being added to the Route of the "Traveling Wall"
Memorial, and getting in contact with the American Legion and/or the Veteran
of Foreign Wars (VFW). Further discussion on ways of getting information and
communications out to the Veterans of Winter Springs.

504)Establishment of Meeting Dates & Times
City Clerk Gowan confirmed that the 5:30 pm start time worked for the
Members. Staff suggested the second Wednesday or Thursday of March,June,
September, and December for the quarterly meetings of the Committee. The
Committee came to a consensus of having the meetings the second
Wednesday of March, June, September, December and verification was given
that the next meeting date would be June 9th at 5:30 pm. Discussion followed
on meeting structure and the lack of similar Veteran Committees.
REPORTS
Committee Member Miller commented further in regard to the "Traveling
Wall" Memorial. Additional Veteran group were suggested for the City to get
in contact with so they could be included in events or to come before the
board.
PUBLIC INPUT
Chairperson Pehowic opened "Public Input".
Mr. Rob Elliott, 92S Chokecherry Court, Winter Springs, Florida commended
the Committee on how the meeting moved and gave some suggestions to the
Committee. Commissioner Elliott additionally relayed information about the
City-Wide "Work Day' that is in planning stages.
Chairperson Pehowic closed "Public Input".
ADJOURNMENT
Chairperson Pehowic adjourned the Regular Meeting at 6:47 p.m.
