SUMMARY A presentation regarding the Feasibility Study for a Trail from SR 434, at Winter Park Drive, to the Cross Seminole Trail, via the Duke Energy Powerline Corridor and Shepard Road. This trail is identified as a proposed major trial in the Seminole County Trail Master Plan and is intended to provide a north- south connection from the City of Casselberry to the Cross Seminole Trail. In addition, this trail is intended to be part of a larger trail from the City of Casselberry to the City of Lake Mary called the Seminole Central Trail. SUMMARY During the December 18, 2020 Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) a discussion was held regarding placing crosswalk signage throughout the City. Consensus was reached and the City installed fourteen (14) solar powered stop signs at all seven (7) trail crosswalks. The residents feedback has been positive, to date. RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee receive and review the information provided. 6 TO .r+ L LI - 4. •r , ' CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA MINUTES BICYCLE AND PEDESTRIAN ADVISORY COMMITTEE REGULAR MEETING DECEMBER 18, 2019 CALL TO ORDER The Regular Meeting of Wednesday, December 18, 2019 of the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee was called to Order at 5:30 p.m. by Committee Member Janice Sorrentino in the Commission Chambers (City Hall, 1126 East State Road 434, Winter Springs, Florida 32708). Roll Call: Committee Member Janice Sorrentino, present Committee Member Kit Lecky, absent Ms. Cara Roesner, present Mr. Jeff Crandall, present Ms. Loretta (Dolly) Ames, present Interim City Clerk Christian Gowan, present A moment of silence was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. The Office of the City Clerk requests that the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee review and approve the Wednesday, June 15, 2016 Bicycle and Pedestrian Regular Meeting Minutes. "I'LL MAKE THE MOTION TO APPROVE THE MINUTES FROM THE LAST MEETING." MOTION BY CHAIRPERSON SORRENTINO. SECONDED BY COMMITTEE MEMBER ROESNER. DISCUSSION. The Parks and Recreation Department and Community Development Department requests the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee discuss the crosswalk signage throughout the City. Discussion followed on establishing a citywide safety standard for crosswalks, developing education materials, and the possibility of adding welcome signs to the Cross-Seminole Trail. Mr. Bob Sibley, 233 Tavestock Loop, Winter Springs, Florida; spoke about the need for trail crossing improvements at State Road 434 and Parkstone, safety concerns, and hoped the Committee could come up with a model crosswalk example to be used throughout the City. James Kennedy, 772 Partridge Circle, Winter Springs, Florida; noted his love for cycling, encouraged knowledge of the law among both cyclists and drivers, and shared his concerns about a crosswalk at Winter Springs High School and the need for illuminated signs. Chairperson Sorrentino closed "Public Input".
