��IIN f , the ARRL Field Day is the most popular on -the -air event held annually in North America, on the fourth weekend of June, when
more than 35,DOD radio amateurs gather with their clubs, groups or friends and set up temporary transmitting stations to demonstrate
ham radio's science, skill and service to our communities and our nation; and this event displays public service, emergency preparedness,
community outreach, and technical skills; and will be held June.22"d and 23rd 2019 at Central Winds Park; and
a local Amateur Radio operators organization, the Lake Monroe Amateur Radio Society ("LMARS") is an American Radio Relay
League (ARRL) Special Service Club and actively supports ARES (Amateur Radio Emergency Service), RACES (Radio Amateur Civil Emergency
Service); and "LMARS" serves Seminole County and Central Florida, offering emergency communications classes throughout the year to help
others, including offering classroom education on amateur radio for area schools; and
"' hNUKUS we are in hurricane season and we are reminded that in times of crisis and natural disasters, amateur radio is often used as a
means of emergency communication when wireline, mobile phones, and other conventional means of communications fail; and Amateur Radio
operators engage in two-way personal communications with other amateur operators on radio frequencies assigned to the amateur radio
service; and
N 7,1U3, there are more than 120 licensed Amateur Radio Operators in the City of Winter Springs, who often work behind the scenes planning
and preparing for the worst outcomes imaginable; and these individuals continually demonstrate their value to the public by providing
emergency radio communications free of charge, in the interest of citizens of the City as well as the world.
NOW THEREFORE, I, Charles Lacey, Mayor of the City of Winter Springs, Florida do hereby Proclaim that we recognize the assistance,
dedication, and skills of the
